Warhol: Back to the Future

October 18, 2010

Dare’s ad for their Remote Palette app works really well on a couple of levels.  Obviously it’s an innovative app that has the potential to take painting by numbers to a whole new level / price range.  What is slightly more interesting though is that it is two objects engaging with one another.

The app is clever but the trend it suggests is what we should be really interested in.  The development of a world where electronic devices are always on and engaging with one another is the logical extension of where we are now.  There’s been a few presentations go up on this ‘post-digital’ scenario (here and here).  I think if you were going to be a real pain you might argue it’s more hyper-digital but that’s labouring the issue a bit.

I haven’t read anymore recently or been to anymore talks on the internet of things so I can only really repeat what I have written before about it.  I still believe that gaming will have a key role to play in this super-connected set-up and am going to be boring again with a link to another post I’ve written previously.

Here’s the original Warhol video too just for completeness.
